    Who We Are

    Your Safe Plate, is your one stop destination for same day ServSafe training and certification for individuals and businesses in the food and service industry. There are more than 14,000,000 food service workers in the United States that serve each American approximately 200 meals each year.  ServSafe certification is a training program that was developed to maintain the standards and safety of the professional workers in the restaurant/service industry. The purpose of the certification is to ensure that all food service workers understand the issues surrounding food safety and ensure these food and beverage workers comply with federal and state law. 

    Join us today and take the first step toward a successful career in the food and service industries. With our experienced instructors and flexible scheduling options, our courses are designed to assist you in  achieving your goals and help you meet the industry standards for food safety.

    The Class and Exam

    • Courses are set in a one day format at a third party location. 
    • Booking is required 7 days in advance.
    • Classes and Exams can be scheduled at your location for classes of 10 or more participants and an additional fee of $30 per 100 miles to your site.
    • The class takes approximately 8 hours to complete.  
    • Class and exam can be conducted on the same day. A break will be given for lunch. (Lunch is NOT provided) 
    • There is a  2 hour time limit for the examination (most students complete the test in about 45 minutes)
    • There are 90 questions on the exam. 10 of which will not count towards your grade as they are perspective in nature.
    • Once the student has completed the exam, they are dismissed.


    The Certificate

    For Food Handlers:

    • The ServSafe Food Handler program is approved by the Ohio Department of Health for food service operations and retail food establishments needing Level One training. 
    • ServSafe Food Handler products do not meet the requirements for Person in Charge. 

    For Food Managers:

    • The ServSafe Person in Charge course is approved by the Ohio Department of Health.
    • This certification is required for the designated person in charge for each shift in food service operations or retail food establishments under specific circumstances outlined in Ohio law.
    • The Ohio Department of Health requires this training for new licenses after March 1, 2010, or when outbreaks or sanitation issues are documented. 
    • The National Restaurant Association provides accreditation for ServSafe certification, that is more often than not, required by state law. The Conference for Food Protection (CFP)and ANSI (the American National Standards Institute) accredits the ServSafe Certification processes and programs

     In May, 2015, ServSafe switched to an e-Certificate. This certificate is valid for 5 years unless otherwise specified by local regulatory authority. This eCertificate can be printed and the PDF file can be dowloaded and saved to your devices.
